I Want My Hat Back - Book Of The Week Activities # 2

Hello everyone and welcome to the second edition of book the week!

Today we will be exploring hat making, philosophy, and other activities based on 'I Want My Hat Back' by Jon Klassen. Published in 2011, Klassen created a story where dialog and visual cues clue the readers in to what's going on.

Philosophy activities

First try to read the book by yourself and then check out this website https://www.teachingchildrenphilosophy.org/BookModule/IWantMyHatBack. This book can be a great insight into both your child's and your own moral compass. It can also be a great starting point for discussing hard topics such as stealing or lying. Of course you don't need to go over every single questions. Only the ones you find relevant for your child.

For kids 9+ the online game Quandary is a free, nonprofit game that builds on children's critical thinking, perspective-taking, empathy, and decision-making skills. https://www.quandarygame.org/families
